Front Slope Garden Plan
Phase One: Summer 2022
Establish plants on right side of slope. Plant seedlings and plants (Catmint and Lamb's Ears).
Remove elderberry tree and stump and then tarp over left side to kill grass. Leave empty spaces for Russian Sage. In fall plant iris and white tulips for spring color.
* Plant Comfrey at the top of the slope (remove brush or small lilac) on the right side. Trim back that annoying tree to give it more sun.
** Swap out one Russian Sage for Bluebeard.
Fall 2022
Transplant sailboat mini white daffodils and grape hyacinth from the back yard to the front slope in with dianthus. Dig up Alium Milenium and give away because it is too purple. Plant Alium Azure (15) and Zamin (3) (fall planted bulbs) blue bearded iris (4 rhizomes) and Pim white tulip (10 bulbs)- along the middle swale.
Phase Two: Summer 2023
Add plants to expand bed to the left. Continue to start seeds for annuals (cornflower, zinnia). Establish edging to keep grass out on left side. Remove shrubs on right side and prepare for more bed expansion.

Tarped area is 14 ' wide.
Make one swale in the middle of the bed and support with stakes and logs. Slope eases at the bottom, so plant those normally with a pressure treated board stuck in the edge of the bed vertically to catch mulch that washes down and separate from the grass (give a mowing edge). For the plants in the top third, dig large holes and brace those with large rocks from around the property.
